What a brilliantly successful day! The culmination of two months of preparation and hard work. For Peter and Maggie Hussey, owners of Ty Olaf, it coincides with the harvesting of fruit from the garden, jam making and post Mid Summer hedge and garden tidying and pruning. For the Bracken Trust Social Committee it is part of an on-going programme of events for which they produce huge amounts of cakes and drinks, and maintain stocks of blue and white bric a brac, books, cakes and raffle prizes. The two previous annual coffee mornings at Ty Olaf had produced close to a thousand pounds towards the continuation of the wonderful work done by the Bracken Trust, so this year we were determined that we would raise even more, which we did!
The Trust whose brief history is here provide a very comprehensive service and support for anyone living in this area who is experiencing cancer and its treatment. The Trust provides help, not only for patients themselves but also for their partners. It is the nature and importance of the Trust that draws support for any fund raising event for its benefit.
Immediately before the Saturday of the coffee morning there had been the by-election for the Brecon and Radnor constituency caused by the recall of our previous MP. The successful candidate was the Liberal Democrat Jane Dodds, and we were delighted to be able to welcome Jane to what was her first public engagement.
