When we bought this house, my father, who was still with us then, was concerned that we were moving to too remote an area. However, the truth is that there is practically always something happening in the valley, road races, cycling, horse ridding, people walking, and – filming! The valley proves to be a great place for film locations, there is so much variation in the landscape, quiet wooded valleys, forested hills, moorland, lakes, rivers, streams, waterfalls, bridges, the area constantly provides the ideal backdrop for film makers, advertisers, programme makers.
We were working in the garden yesterday and noticed a convoy of vehicles and trailers heading out along the valley road.
It turns out that this film will be a prequel to the film “Snow White and the Huntsman”, titled “The Huntsman”. The beach scenes in the original film were largely filmed on Marloes Beach in Pembrokeshire. Clearly the Huntsman will be found, to some extent at least, moving through the trees of the Elan Valley.
