  4. If it is peace, tranquillity, fabulous accommodation, access to beautiful picturesque walks and a welcome warmer than the Sahara then look no more. It is all here in one great package.

We needed to chill and relaxation started the minute Peter opened the gate for us.
Thank you so much Maggie & Peter

  5. The cottage at Ty-Olaf is beautiful and the setting in the Elan Valley is magical with the river running near by and the sheep peacefully grazing in the valley. Not far away is Cigrin farm where daily at 3-30pm the Red Kites are fed. The aerobatic display by these fantastic birds is an amazing spectacle and would put The Red Arrows display team to shame.
Peter & Maggie are such wonderful hosts with a welcome so warm that we will remember forever.

  6. The scenery was stunning, the cottage beautiful and the welcome warm – we had a lovely few days relaxing in the Elan Valley. Enjoyed bracing walks around the dam and surrounding countryside. Plenty of activities in the area including red kite feeding and the narrow gauge railway to Aberystwyth. It was lovely to come back to the cottage and relax at the end of each day. Thank you Peter and Maggie

  8. Ty Olaf is a little gem in the spectacular Elan Valley. Maggie & Peter are attentive and caring hosts and gave us a very warm welcome. The cottage is built and furnished to a very high standard with much attention to detail. Our short holiday was further enhanced by the wonderful snow and, although it was -17 deg outside, we were very comfortable inside Ty Olaf. This is THE place to stay for exploring the Elan Valley and many walks along the valley and over the hills start just outside the front door.Thank you Maggie & Peter for a fantastic short break. We will be back for a longer holiday.

  9. Previous guests have said it all! This was a perfect holiday for us. The only thing we missed and must come back for is water cascading over the dams! And to capture the Hercules pilot having his/her dambusters moment over Claerwen dam, but I was too slow to capture it! Thank you Maggie and Peter for all your help and suggestions!

  10. Thank you Maggie & Peter for your hospitality, the great cottage, the suggestions for walks, the lovely extra touches – the welsh cakes, the bread, the strawberries! What a fabulous week we have just spent at Ty Olaf. We came for the walking and couldn’t have chosen a better place to stay – so many superb walks are literally straight from the door and after a day on the hills it was lovely to come back to the luxury of lying on the sofa, watching red kites hovering above the woodland outside the living room window. We had such brilliant weather (only drawback was that it was far too hot to light the woodburner – we’ll need to have a winter break next time!).

  11. Yvette and I had a delightful week at Ty Olaf. We discovered a friendly and welcoming sailing club at Clywedog reservoir, which has spectacular scenery. Yvette went horse riding at the “Heart of Wales” riding school at Pen y Bont, which was lovely. The walks to and from Ty Olaf are superb. But saving the best until last Ty Olaf is beautiful and Maggie and Peter made us especially welcome.
PS The food at the Elan Valley hotel was very good and a convenient short walk away.
